WORLD LITERATURE is recommended for 10th-12th grades
Cost: $400/year (+HCS Academy Admin fee)
This class will be taught at the HCS Academy for the 2023-2024 school year.
In World Literature, students will be exposed to literary analysis, creative writing, Readers Theater, vocabulary work, and detailed instruction on the process of writing a research paper. This is the only literature class which requires a particular ISBN number for certain books. College assessment test prep strategies for reading and writing will also be covered. 12 student max.
PRE-REQ: Students should already be proficient in the MLA formatted, 5-paragraph essay process, including three-point argumentative thesis statement construction, as well as have an understanding of basic literary terms, including plot line elements, conflict, and point of view. A minimum of one year in a high school level class or curriculum is required. Returning students must have successfully passed Introduction to Literature with a C or above. New students must submit a writing sample.
