High School literature classes
Please note the prerequisites for each class. The literature classes progress in difficulty with each year and are best viewed as a four-year sequence: Introduction to Literature, World Literature, American Literature, British Literature. Students may join classes in any year, assuming all pre-requisites are met and their writing sample fits with the writing level for that class. If you need help determining where your child would best fit, I would be happy to help.
All literature classes include vocabulary work, note taking skills, peer reviews, grammar instruction, and a particular area of emphasis and project that varies by class: Introduction to Literature: MLA format and essay structure/multi-media presentation World Literature: Test prep strategies and MLA research paper process/Reader's Theater American Literature: Periods and Movements and professional email correspondence/creating a book trailer British Literature: Poetry and writing an op-ed/Creating a website |
